Week 6 – Models…Theology: Bevans; Chp. 6

Here Bevan’s offers us the praxis model of contextualization, which has strong ties and deep roots in liberation theology.  The knowing distantly of the faith is not enough; if one’s doing is not reflective of spoken or “knowledge” of YHWH, than one’s faith is shallow.  Perhaps the most difficult thing here is that the “knowing” we have of YHWH in the west is easy and requires little of us but an hour or two a week.  The praxis of faith that is centered on Jesus requires us to think about our transportation, communication patterns, what our workplace produces in goods and oppression of others, etc.
