Week 5 – Models…Theology: Bevans; Chp. 5

This anthropological model was quite interesting; as Bevan’s in fact affirmed, there is a bit of the translation model in this as well as the others. However, I found myself a bit skeptical about it as I began, but by the end found myself resonating with some of the tenets and truths within. This may be one of the models where not just romantization of the indigenous people is a challenge, but also the fine line of syncretization and compromising of the faith.  Perhaps one way of guarding against this is being quite aware of your own cultural narratives that have shaped one’s perception of Jesus.
