Week 10 – Monday

Today we had yet another opportunity to address our faithfulness as a community of Jesus. It seems as though there are all of these challenges to the church to respond differently; do church leaders, both lay and ordained, read these theologians and writers? If so, why is there such a complacency or syncretization of faith? I wonder to, what sort of community do these writers like John Howard Yoder belong to? Are they involved in places and in groups that incarnate their expressed beliefs?

One Response to “Week 10 – Monday”

  1. Great question Brian, Yoder, as you know, was a Mennonite and I think that the things he called people to were either a part of the communities he was or were a part of the larger Mennonite church in general. But this isn’t always the case, and I have often wondered where the call of the theologian lines up with the reality of the congregation – and whether anyone really listens?
